Gehl® was founded in 1859 by Louis Lucas and is still headquartered in West Bend, WI where it all began. The founder, Louis Lucas supplied the area with farm and agricultural machines at the time. The company was purchased in 2008 by the French equipment maker Manitou Group.

For over a century, Gehl has been manufacturing agricultural and construction heavy machinery with today's product lines including skid steer loads, track loaders, pavers, excavators, and telescopic handlers which have since been used and distributied to companies worldwide.
